FESTIVAL OF THE MINER’S GHOST- overview

 
 

Cobar welcomes you to join in the celebration and commemoration of Cobar's miners and proud mining history. The Festival of the Miner's Ghost offers a range of programmed activities.

 

A Night To Remember Our Lost Miners:

Friday evening 7pm on the 24th of October 2025, we will kick off with a Night to Remember Our Lost Miners at the Cobar Mining Heritage Park. This service includes a Guard of Honour, wreath laying, guest speakers, music, BBQ and coffee van.

Cemetery Tours:

Embark on a guided journey through the cemetery and dive deeper into Cobar’s rich history. Guided by our local Historian Kay Stingemore, you will learn more about our Cobar history and the people who called Cobar home. Make sure to book through The Great Cobar Museum: 02 6836 5806.

Colour Run:

For an early start, on Saturday the 25th of October join us for a family friendly colour run at 9am. An eventful morning join us for a walk or run around the oval and are welcomed to stay for breakfast at the end of the route with the community centre Staff. Make sure to register through 123ticks, prior to the event!

Markets at the Park:

Saturday evening from 5pm- 9pm, join our friendly Cobar Community at Drummond Park and see what’s on offer. With a variety of markets, food vendors, kids’ amusement and live music it is sure to be a wonderful evening.

CSA Fireworks:

Stay the evening, 9pm a spectacular fireworks display over the open cut mines. With a big Thank you to our proud sponsor, CSA mines.

Mining & Trade Show:

From 10am-2pm on Sunday 16th October 2025, The Trade Show will bring the local mines and mining businesses together in the Cobar Mining Heritage Park with mining and trade stalls, mining demonstrations, music, kid’s amusements and of course food for the hungry workers!
